Markel Redondo is a freelance photographer based in Bilbao, Spain. Some of his recent clients include Greenpeace, Bloomberg, The British Council, Le Figaro Magazine, Le Point, New York Times, South China Morning Post, Ikono Magazine and The Mail on Sunday. Markel was finalist at "Descubrimientos" Photo España 2007, nominated for the Joop Swart Masterclass in 2007 and took the prestigious Eddie Adams Workshop in 2007 as well. After spending two years documenting social issues in China he is based in Bilbao now, where he works on personal projects and commissions.
Markel is available for assignment in Spain and in southern France.

Le Boom Turistique

The project looks at the growing Chinese tourist trade as the number of Chinese tourist increases dramatically year by year. The project is a satiric comment on the mass movements of people for cultural and “scenic spot” consumption. It concentrates on the social interactions between group members and leaders, tourists and the landscape and reveal a new phenomenon that has already launched the rest of the world. (China 2006-2007).

In the cities of Chongqing, Yichang and Wuham where the Yangtze River flues people seem to have been caught in the middle of transformation and the changes happening in their environment has leave them disturbed. With the construction of the Three Gorges Dam whole towns and cities have disappear and new owns have risen with no clear identity.
